Know Who You Work With

Jen Squilla

I’ve led agency teams and advised companies through launches, growth stages, FDA-sensitive moments, executive visibility, category creation, media scrutiny, partnership strategy, and internal change. My work has spanned connected health technology, clinical innovation, boutique fitness, destination wellness, respiratory health, metabolic health, brain health, and consumer behavior.

I began my career as a journalist, which mostly means I can spot a weak story quickly and have a high tolerance for reality. Jason Feifer, Editor in Chief of Entrepreneur, once called me β€œone of the few communications people who doesn’t suck.”

My latest adventure was a multigenerational tour through Yellowstone. I live in Miami with my husband, two daughters, and a growing list of rescue pets.

Narrative Counsel | Fractional CCO

Engagement Models & Services

  • Full-time Leadership: the right company with the right people. Right looks like a team that invites comms into the decision room, supports working parents, and enables their people to get things done.

Fractional CCO: for companies that need senior communications leadership for a reason and a season.

Strategic Projects: For companies that need focused help around a specific launch, narrative reset, executive platform, internal communications buildout, partnership strategy or high-stakes moment.

  • Senior communications leadership across narrative, reputation, partnerships, visibility, internal messaging, and cultural strategy β€” retain me for a reason and a season.

  • Protecting and leveraging influence as a media asset (old school PR w/ new school media). Strategies based on impact (Regional, bottom line, audiences, AEO, SEO), not bulky clip books.

  • Learn where your brand stands, develop owned content to appear more, partner with the brands showing up and earn citations with media that matter most.

  • Managing the speaking programs and networks of busy people.

  • Making matches that elevate (not borrow) brand love.

  • Helping artists and thinkers make money, matching them with brands that need their touch. Building Creator Kits, building services and pricing models, getting you in front of the right brands in a creative way.

You Need A CCO

Smart brands are taking note: communications belongs in the C-suite.

The new work of the Chief Communications Officer goes beyond media relations, influencer management, and events. It is part counsel, part cultural read, part pattern recognition. It helps decide which partners make sense, what data matters, where the audience is already moving, how a founder should show up, and even how a product should be shaped or presented to meet the moment.

A fractional CCO gives you that senior lens before the story goes public β€” before the launch, the partnership, the investor update, the founder interview, or the β€œcan we get press for this?” moment.

The work can include narrative strategy, executive positioning, media counsel, creator and partnership strategy, reputation planning, launch architecture, internal messaging, and the cultural context that makes a brand feel relevant instead of merely visible.

Clips are useful. But the real value is knowing what deserves attention, where it should show up, who should carry it, and how to make the story strong enough to travel. Reach out to learn more about fractional counsel, project work, or full-time communications leadership opportunities.
